Axis 3 - To develop tools to detect and characterise viral populations
The permanent evolution of plant virus genome leads in many cases to
new biological properties. In such a context, we have to permanently
develop new tools to reliably detect and characterise viral populations
of BYDV-PAV, PVY and TRV. Such a work provides for several needs :
- To detect different virus
species and their respective variants with a high sensitivity
and specificity. |

- To set up routine detection tools for our professional partners.

- Variability and detection of Potato virus Y (PVY) (C. Kerlan)
- Tobacco rattle virus (TRV) : a long time damaging pathogen in potato crops requiring a control strategy based on breeding for resistance (C. Kerlan)
