Biology and Genetic of phytoparasitic Nematodes »

@Bernard Chaubet
Cyst nematodes of the Heterodera and Globodera genera are economically important pests in agriculture. They generally attack a small number of plant species of the same family, but their damages could be important. Moreover, their elimination is quite difficult due to their high capacities of persistence in the soils.

The team keeps a capacity of appraisal on several nematodes despite a predominance on cyst nematodes. The nematological studies are articulated around three major axes of researches aiming to the analysis of the fonctionning and adaptation of nematode populations. The first one deals with the nematode systematics and population genetics, the second with the variability of parasitism genes, and the last one with the selection and creation of new nematode resistant varieties.
