« Regulation, ecology and evolution of reproductive modes »

Cyclical parthenogenesis (alternance between a clonal phase and a single sexual generation) is the typical reproductive mode of aphids. The same genotype is able to produce either parthenogenetic forms or sexual forms, depending on environmental conditions, which constitutes a case of polyphenism

“Sexual” lines (which undergo cyclical parthenogenesis) can coexist with “asexual” lines (which undergo obligate parthenogenesis). This coexistence may have profound consequences on the population dynamics and population genetics of aphids, and may have an agronomical impact (epidemiology of viral diseases transmitted by aphids).
Dans ce domaine, nous travaillons sur trois projets :

We develop three projects:

1) Regulation of reproductive modes (contact : Denis Tagu)
2) Ecology, population genetics, and evolution of sexual and asexual lines (contact Jean-Christophe Simon) (under construction)
3) Evolution and adaptation of clonal lineages (contact : Claude Rispe)
