Objective 3 : To evaluate research and other information and determine priorities for research and development

3.1. To evaluate the available research work and other information (particularly that obtained from the EFSA report and the above-mentioned objectives 1 and 2) regarding surgical castration without anaesthesia and its various potential alternatives (new methods for surgical castration, alternative castration methods, raising entire male pigs, other alternatives);

3.2. To identify gaps and weaknesses;

3.3. To suggest research priorities.

Objective 3 is fulfilled through working package 3 "Evaluation"

Expected results for objective 3:

An updated synthesis of the state of knowledge regarding issues associated with the castration of pigs and identification of future priorities for research to alleviate stakeholder concerns regarding this practice.
